Community Project Program: We have been so overwhelmed and inspired by the quantity of scarves and beanies that have come in for various charities – it’s impossible to thank you all individually and will only mention a few, just to add a “personalised” flavour to this email: Judith from Somerset West couriered 17 beanies for the kids; Sue from Florida in Gauteng sent over 10; Jean from Cape Town, whilst on holiday in Plett, crocheted a big bag full of scarves and beanies; …. The list goes on and on!
Besides the maroon beanies (over 100!) for the kids at Harkerville Primary, we supplied Lions with bedsocks, beanies and blankets for Reesa Frail Care in Kranshoek as well as over 25 scarves and beanies for little ones at Sunday School in Kranshoek. Born Free Ministries also received a bag of beanies and jerseys for the small kids in Crags and Masizame received a bag of beanies for the kids who visit their centre. Busy, busy …. Once again, thanks so much to EVERYONE!
Our current project is to collect as many yarn and or fabric toys for the kids at the local clinics. This will be an ongoing project and spearheaded by Lions in Plett – the kids’ faces light up when they are able to play with knitted balls, dolls, teddies, etc and get to take them home with them. Please let us have your contribution as soon as possible – use your stash or buy yarn and make some very colourful items. Ball pattern is on our website – we have a new tab with patterns on for your convenience.
Crochet and Knitting lessons and workshops: Michelle Pyper (of Passie fame) is new to Plett and has extensive knowledge in all things Yarn (welcome Michelle)! She has offered to run some lessons and workshops here at wool&more and we are delighted to oblige and partner with her!! Below is a short list of her lessons and workshops – Please Note: she requires a minimum of four participants per lesson – so grab some buddies and book your lessons and / or workshop as soon as possible.
Note: the prices in all cases include tuition but exclude basic materials, all available at wool&more.

Price Increases: This serves as a reminder to all that the Elle and Charity annual price increase is effective from 1st August. Should you wish to stock up, please do so before the 1st August!
Your Responsibility: Here is a “gentle nudge”, a reminder that buying enough yarn, taking suitable dye lots and your matching up of yarn and pattern is your responsibility! Whilst we are here to advise and guide you, and do our best in all aspects, final decisions will ultimately by yours. It would be great (and challenging!) if we were all experts in every aspect … we are not and thus lean on each other. Meanwhile, it needs to be said that in the majority of cases, our customers are an absolute delight …. Thank you so much for laughing with us, being patient and generally enjoying the wonderful vibe at wool&more!!
Trading Hours: Please note that effective from August, we will only be open every first and last Saturday morning of each month as well as daily from 10 to 4, reverting to our “normal hours”. Meanwhile, for the balance of July, we are open daily from 10 – 4 and every Saturday from 9.30 to 12.30. Pop these times in your diary or on your fridge for future reference.
And just as an aside, if you phone and the phone just rings during trading hours, it’s because the bathroom has been calling (or there has been a power failure) … and the same goes for if you arrive during trading hours and the sign says Open. Back in 5 Minutes – it’s usually only 2,35 minutes!! Please do wait for us, or call back.
Cute Puppy Jacket pattern:
That’s all for this month – we are hoping to send you some Elle patterns in our August newsletter (our around 13th or 14th August approximately). Meanwhile, a customer told us about a crochet site (no patterns unfortunately) called clothogancho … do google it and have a look. Quite amazing!
Keep warm, keep creating and hoping to see you all soon – our range is stunning and keeps growing!!
With love and gratitude for your support.
Joy Sachs
