5 OF OUR FAVOURITE MCC’S AT THE SASFIN PLETT WINE & BUBBLY FESTIVAL THIS OCTOBER
The third annual Sasfin Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival will take place over the weekend of 8 & 9 October on Plett’s Central Beach. We are bringing out the bubbly to toast the good life – because Plett, it’s a feeling! Here are five of our favourite Méthode Cap Classique wines you won’t want to miss! So go ahead and celebrate now…POP! We all know that sound…drink up, get ready and we’ll see you the 8th and 9th of October on Plett’s Central Beach!
Bramon is pushing the boundaries of wine-making with their award winning non-traditional and traditional MCC bubblies, highlighted with a Terrior Award for their 2014 Blanc de blanc MCC, Vitis Vinifera Gold for The Crags Sauvignon Blanc 2014 and Michelangelo Silver for The Crags Sauvignon Blanc 2014. They were the first to pioneer the unique and popular Sauvignon Blanc MCC and haven’t looked back!
Kay and Monty produced their first wines in 2012, and recently won gold at the Old Mutual Wine Show and their MCC “Champu” was awarded 4 out of 5 stars by Platters. This MCC is pale to medium straw, with honey and dates on the nose and a hint of eucalyptus. It does have classic MCC biscuit notes followed by lime, pear and subtle fennel flavours that linger on the palette for a satisfying sparling finish. Enjoy!
Newstead serves up two amazing MCCs – an MCC Brut with yeasty, tasty notes and a crisp, limey finish that won a double gold Michelangelo Gran D’or award and a Terroir award for Plettenberg Bay Winelands. And their new Rosé bubbly has been well worth the wait! With its raspberry flavours and hints of red berries, its luminant, elegant and silky… which is much like how you will feel when you drink it!
Plettenvale’s Brut Rosé MCC is unmistakable with its exquisite tint of salmon pink colour and delicate hints of strawberry, followed on the palate by crisp fresh zest and vibrant fine mousse – perfect for any celebration. It is produced in the French tradition from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown on the north slopes facing the bay of Plett. Let this bubbly speak for itself!
Packwood Estate’s signature “Gent” is a 100% Pinot Noir MCC, harvested by hand in autumn 2010 and was made using the traditional French method. Its delicate mousse delivers a mouth filling roundness with an explosion of bubbles, high fruit intensity, leading to a crisp and refreshingly dry finish. What a pleasure!
